Paolo Di Canio tells talkSPORT he wants to return to West Ham ‘before I’m dead’

first_imgWest Ham hero Paolo Di Canio has told talkSPORT he would love to return to the club in some capacity in the future, but is keen to allow new boss Slaven Bilic to oversee ‘a new era’ at the club. The maverick Italian hasn’t been in charge of a side since his acrimonious departure as manager of Sunderland in 2013.Despite playing for a number of teams in England and his homeland, including Charlton Athletic, Sheffield Wednesday, Lazio and Roma, the former striker has always had a strong affinity with the Hammers, with whom he made the most club appearances of his career. And, when asked if he would like to be involved with the club again, Di Canio told the Hawksbee and Jacobs show: “The answer is easy! It’s obvious.“But now…let them work because there is a new era started with Bilic.“I will always and forever hope West Ham will get fantastic results and there is the potential to win something maybe in the future.“It’s important they’re doing well – West Ham should always be playing in the Premier League.“It’s obvious [I’d like to return] if you’re talking about in ten or 20 years time – obviously before I’m dead, because then it would be difficult.“One day maybe, it would be fantastic! I want to go back to England.”last_img read more
