112 boxes of food translates to feeding 45 families, or 250 people in the Johnson City area. On Thursday, support staff began loading their own vehicles full of boxes to make deliveries to families in need. Students and Staff collected non-perishable breakfast and lunch items like cereal, canned fruit, soup, and snack items. Each year during the months of November and December, the Johnson City K-8 school conducts an annual food drive to help families in need for the holiday season. In addition to their collection efforts, the Choconut Center United Methodist Church has contributed approximately $1,800 worth of food for the drive. This year for its ninth year, students helped collect 112 boxes worth of food, the most they have ever collected.
